ABOUT US

About the Coalition to Support Iowa's Farmers...

Prominent agricultural groups in Iowa unanimously approved the creation of a new effort to grow Iowa’s economy and keep farm families living and working on the land. The idea has become a reality May 2004 with the launch of the Coalition to Support Iowa’s Farmers.

The Coalition provides individual farm families with specific help in understanding, implementing and following rules and regulations covering animal agriculture. Its mission: to help grow communities…one farmer at a time.

Six Iowa farm and commodity organizations created this strategic effort. They include: Iowa Cattlemen’s Association; Iowa Corn Growers Association; Iowa Farm Bureau; Iowa Poultry Association; Iowa Pork Producers Association; and Iowa Soybean Association.

The CSIF has four primary functions: to educate farmers about the rules and regulations impacting animal agriculture; empower them to educate consumers about the importance of food production; communicate the connection between farm life and Iowa’s economic and social well being; and engage those that do not tell the truth about animal agriculture and food production.

CSIF’s focus is unique. While Iowa’s farm and commodity organizations provide a comprehensive assortment of tools, farmers asked for a new, one-stop shop focusing specifically on animal agriculture. The CSIF is the place that farmers can go to receive the help and support they need to remain active in their communities and profession they love. The Coalition does not have members; does not adopt policy; nor does it lobby. It's focused on growing communities one farmer at a time.

That’s good for Iowa and Iowans. Animal production employs nearly 7 percent of the state’s workforce, is responsible for 5 percent of the state’s economic output and generates more than $470 million in local and state tax revenue.

Iowa benefits when farm families remain on the land and active in their communities. The CSIF will help in that effort.
